InterCity 126 - Instamatic Days
September 6th, 2008 by admin
The collection of my Kodak Instamatic photographs taken from late 1979 to early 1980, when armed with only 12 X exposure films you really had to consider what was worth photographing. This is all of them, warts and all! Some of the Devon pictures were taken by my brother, but this was always with my direction. My Instamatic was only to have a short life on the railways, as by May 1980 I had purchased a third-hand 35mm Zenit-E SLR. Hope you enjoy them!

Hi, Yes I think we were all a bit sick of it back then and we craved change. I remember we used to get excited over something as simple as a white stripe or a grey roof. And remember those names? All carefully chosen and given to the locomotives they were proud of. That’s the trouble with todays railways, there’s no pride like there was years ago. Thanks for viewing. Cheers!!!

I used to be a secondman at Stratford MPD in East London. In 1979 I got sick of the sight of that corporate blue and grey. Now I wish I could go back with my camera and video camera to film it all.
