I've been with my husband for 12yrs. And have 4 children with and as far as I knew he has also been faithful. Just been told I have the hpv without the warts. Can it be dormant for all those years? Would it have shown during any of my pregnacy's or my yearly pap smears? Does he now have to make a doctor's app.?

it could have been dormant all those years. but i would think it would have shown up after pregnancies as thats when some abnormalities show up. hard to say!! but as for your husband, there is currently no test for men for HPV. sorry. so you will have to trust that he says he didnt cheat.
so sorry that really is a hard one!!! they still are learning so much about HPV but they do know it can lay dormant for yearssss. good luck!

Dede lives in a remote village in Indonesia. At 32 years-old, he has an extraordinary skin condition; he has root like structures growing out of his body - branches that can grow up to 5cm a year and which protrude from his hands and feet, and welts covering his whole body.

Dede’s problem is that he has a rare genetic fault that impedes his immune system, meaning his body is unable to contain the warts.

The virus was therefore able to “hijack the cellular machinery of his skin cells”, ordering them to produce massive amounts of the substance that caused the tree-like growths known as “cutaneous horns” on his hands and feet.

Dede’s counts of a key type of white blood cell are so low that Dr Gaspari initially suspected he may have the Aids virus.

But tests showed he did not, and it became clear that Dede’s immune condition was something far rarer and more mysterious.

Warts aside, he had enjoyed remarkable good health throughout his life - which would not be expected of someone with a suppressed immune system - and neither his parents nor his siblings have shown signs of developing lesions.

Genital herpes and cold sores (oral herpes) are caused by the herpes simplex virus. Usually cold sores are caused by herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV1) but they can also be caused by herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV2). Genital herpes is usually caused by HSV2, but it can also be caused by HSV1. Genital herpes causes flulike symptoms, such as fever, headache, and muscle aches. It also causes painful, itchy blisters on the penis, on the vulva, or inside the vagina. Blisters may also appear on the anus, buttocks, thighs, or scrotum, either alone or in clusters. The blisters break and become shallow, painful, oozing sores. Genital warts are caused by HPV (Human papillomavirus). There are over 120 different kinds of HPV; most are harmless. There are several different kinds that can cause genital warts including kinds 6, 11, 30, 42, 43, 44, 45, 51, 52, and 54. Types 6 and 11 make up about 90% of genital wart cases. Warts may look like tiny bunches of cauliflower or like flat, white areas that are very difficult to see. In women and men, warts may appear in the groin, on and around the genitals, in the urethra, or in the rectum or anus. Both viruses are incurable and are basically spread the same way. Herpes and HPV can be spread by sex (vaginal, oral and anal) and by DIRECT skin to skin contact. i was reading a article and it said that some hpv cause warts and some cause cancer.

Studies indicate that women who have HPV are at a much much higher risk for cervical cancer than those who do not. Just because a strain of HPV does or doesn't cause warts, it would still increase one's risk of cancer.
